Hey folks! Welcome to day two of web comic week at entirelyrandom.net, your favourite new site on the interwebs! Today's pick is another stick based comic which is a parody of role playing games that attempts to satirize the parallels between the medieval and modern genres. Much of the plot mirrors many ideas from DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) and follows the sometimes strange yet humerous adventures of a party of wacky characters who all have their own quirks. Rich Burlew's colourful and diverse web comic is a welcome change from the plotless and altogether purposeless composition of the other webcomics so far. The combination of a decent storyline with persistant individual characteristics for each member of the party, gives the whole comic a cleaner and more inviting feel. It's also notable that this comic is ranked higher in the webcomic hierachy even when compared to greats such as Cyanide and Happiness or xkcd. The constant DnD references also don't impeach on the reader's experience because a lot of the material makes sense to the average person who understands the basic concepts. Sorry it's a bit late but keep your eyes open for day four! If you want to look at more of these comics go along to http://www.giantitp.com and choose 'The Order of the Stick' under stories.

Looks like it's time for round two of our little review of some of the web comics out there. XKCD's creator, Randall Munroe is a former contractor for NASA and works on this basic stick figure comic full time. He describes his comic quite simply as 'a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language' which is aimed at anyone who gets his references to math, programming and other quirky subjects that generally aren't clear to your average internet user. The site hit it's peek in october 2007 with a massive 60 million+ hits and it has also earned it self a mention in 'The Guardian' and 'The New York Times' on more than one occasion. The site is also known to make fun of pop culture references of the time which is shown below, in this case it's anonymous (4chan) and the twilight series.
These web comics are also unique in the way that if you put your mouse over the image and hover it there for a second, you will notice the image description often gives secret insight into the content or a hidden punchline. The name xkcd itself doesn't actually mean anything in particular, Randall apparently took a liking to it because there was no possible pronounciation and had to be said the same way it was spelt. Critics argue that he might have used it because of the fact that the letters add up to 42 which some may know is Douglas Adams answer to the universe from the hit series 'The Hitch hikers Guide to the Galaxy' which is also worth a look if you haven't read the books or heard the radio series. Although there is no continuing plot or characters generally but there is a continued parody of movies, books and other pop culture. Xkcd is known online for relying on decent content, orginal and CLEAN ideas that have helped it establish a substantial user base that rivals that of lesser comics such as Cyanide and Happiness. Anyhoo I hope you enjoyed todays comic and please post a comment on what you thought so hopefully I can do a better job of the next one! Sorry if some of these comics (like yesterdays) are a bit artifacty, it might be a good idea to view them on the xkcd.com site if you can. See you with tomorrows review!

Cyanide and Happiness is an extremely popular yet contraverial web comic that is perverse and is known to overstep the mark on a regular basis. This particular web comic was one of the first few to encourage 'leeching' of their material onto social networking sites such as myspace, bebo and facebook. It is also known to popup on many different blogging sites as well as 4chan (which speaks for itself). One critic describes it as 'an eclectic mix of cynicism and vile toilet humor. No plot, story, characters or themes. Randomness ensues...' yet there is occasionally characters and plot devices which do reoccur throughout the comic series and you will notice this as you read. The stories tend to base themselves around eye stabbing super villians, clueless male protagonists, toilet humour, sexual inuendo and a whole bunch of other references you won't understand and don't WANT to understand. The comics do however rely on an implied meaning most of the time which is positive because it makes them seem less explicit. The idea of Cyanide and Happiness originated from Kris Wilson who drew the comics and eventually decided to make them on his PC as digital images. The webmasters of Sticksuicide (Matt Melvin, Rob DenBleyker and Dave McElfatrick) saw potential in Kris's ideas and together they started Explosm.net. The site itself was founded on 9th December 2004 and has been going strong ever since and now has an estimated million visitors per day. The site is also described by Alexa.com as being one of the top two thousand websites on the web! Some Cyanide and Happiness comics have also been used for advertising and have been published in the 'Sun' newspaper on several occasions.
The name of 'Cyanide and Happiness' came quickly after the release of one of their first comics (shown above). Keep your eyes open for the reviews of some other top web comics and be sure to go check out some more Cyanide and Happiness at Explosm.net! Check out some more of their comics below.

We have two main issues on the server at this point in time which are outlined below. If you are having any problems with the server either send me a private message via IRC/Site or leave a message in the forum.
- The host I'm using to provide the irc.entirelyrandom.net server recycles it's IP's from previous customers and one of those customers happens to be a previous server owner on the 15+ server network called GR.net and users connecting from jersey.irc.gr are being redirected to us. After several heated discussions and language barriers, I have managed to get one of the staff members to contact the root admins so that they can change the DNS over, lets hope this fixes the problem. This however DOES bring up a rather important issue about speaking different languages on the network and this has meant I'm now introducing a new rule:
Users who are chatting in #chat, #help or other network related channels MUST speak English. The only exception to this rule is if you need help in which you may speak in another language but you will need to bring someone to translate.
- The second is the slight issue I had with the conflicting IP address that I was originally given which resulted in some minor downtime. This issue should now be resolved and with the help of spam.entirelyrandom.net, we should have 100% uptime.
Keep an eye out for more site/content updates because they are coming!
